Document Description
Redwoods Community College District ("RCCD") has approved a Project to replace an existing the existing Creative Arts building that does not conform to code requirements for seismic safety, earthquake resistant construction, structural
stability, accessibility and fire/life/safety. The existing Creative Arts building, constructed in-1973-74, is constructed on top of surfacing, active faults and consequently, in accordance with the Alquist-Priolo Act of 1972, represents an
unacceptable seismic hazard. There is no feasible method to retrofit the current building to mitigate this hazard. The project demolishes the current 20,260 Assignable Square Foot Art building and will replace it with a new structure located
on the campus at a site cleared of seismic hazards as defined by the Act. The replacement building will not increase student capacity or number of classrooms but will provide a safe, code compliant learning environment.
