Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement number 1600-2018-0267-R5, pursuant to Section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code, to California Department of Transportation (Caltrans).
The project is limited to installation and maintenance of a temporary debris barrier at the confluence of an unnamed tributary to Topanga Creek with SR-27. The debris barrier will be approximately 15-feet-high and 30-feetwide on a slope of 2H:1V to near vertical where the adjacent hill is eroded. The mesh net will be installed via a
man lift and attached to the anchors drilled into the hill. The barrier is designed to allow.the flow of water and smaller debris to pass through a large mesh net made of coiled braided cable while catching large debris and preventing it from entering the traveled way of SR-27. Large debris will pose a risk to drivers on SR-27 if the
debris flows unimpeded. The barrier will be anchored to the ground by specially designed soil anchors.
