The California Department of Toxic Substances Control determined a removal action was required to address chlorinated hydrocarbon impacted soil vapor at the Alexan Montclair Apartments property site. The Removal Action Workplace summarized the findings and concluded remediation consisting of a Soil Vapor Extraction system with contingent vapor barrier was required to protect human health and the environment. DTSC approved the RAW, prepared by Frey Environmental, dated September 21, 2018 pursuant to Chapter 6.8, Division 20, Section 2535(a)(1) of the Health and Safety Code.
Project activities consists of the installation of a soil vapor extraction system, which will include five soil vapor extraction wells, associated piping, equipment enclosure, and seven soil vapor observation probes. A vapor barrier is being added to the design of the building adjacent to the area where VOCs are located.
Minor actions to prevent, minimize, stabilize, mitigate, or eliminate the release or threat of release of hazardous waste or hazardous substances.
