The project will result in a shaded fuel break along a ridgeline that is valuable for the protection of the Blackhawk Road community north of Foresthill. Project activities include the removal of understory trees (<6' dbh) and brush primarily by hand treatment and follow-up pile burning confined to previously disturbed areas.

Reasons for Exemption
The La Dorada Shaded Fuel Break will only remove trees less than 6' in diameter at breast height and brush. The effort of this project will not reduce the stocking density below the 300-point count level. Removal will be by hand crews using gasoline powered chain saws, with minimal ground disturbance. There are no water resources present within the project area to be potentially impacted by activities.
