Document Description
The California Department of Fish Wildlife is issuing a permit to Gallaway Enterprises pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 2081(a) for a seed viability experiment involving Butee County meadowfoam (limnanthes floccosa ssp. californica), an endangered species under the California Endangered Species Act. The experiment will involve testing whether Butte County meadowfoam seeds can remain intact and viable after passing through a portion of a cow's digestive system.

The Project will take place in Butte County, California. The seed viability experiment will utilize seeds collected at the miriam park preserve in Chico, California. The miriam Park Preserve is located on both sides of Humboldt Road between the Marsh Junior High School and Bruce Road. Emperimental manipulation of seed will take place at the California State University Chico Farn kicated at 311 Nicholas C. Shouten Lane off of Hegan Lane in Chico. Seeds may also be temporarily stored at the offices of the permittee, Gallaway Enterprises.

Reasons for Exemption
The project is a scientific experiment that will not result in a major disturbance to an environmental resource. The permit issued by the California Department of Fish and Wildlife for the project includes measures to ensure that existing of Limnanthes floccosa ssp. Californica are not impacted.
