Document Description
The California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has approved a Class 1* Permit Modification to Quemetco, Inc. that was required in a letter to DTSC dated June 12, 2018. The Class 1* Permit Modification would allow Trisodium Phosphate (TSP) to be added to the washing (treatment) of the contaminated plastic that is separated from the metallic components of the spent lead-acid battery is shredded in the battery wrecker. [x] Common Sense Rule Exemption This Class 1* Modification would not increase the footprint of the facility, or significantly alter current operations. The contaminated plastic will continue to be washed and managed in accordance with State Hazardous Waste Control Laws. Water generated from the washing will continue to be managed through an onsite waste water treatment system.
