Document Description
The San Mateo Resource Conservation District (RCD) is proposing the La Honda Fuel Break Project (Project) in the south coast region of San Mateo County, which will include vegetation treatments across up to 661 acres, with approximately 230 acres scheduled for treatment in the next 3 years. RCD has prepared a Project-Specific Analysis and CEQA Addendum to evaluate if the proposed project is within the scope of the California Vegetation Treatment Program EIR (CalVTP PEIR), consider revisions or changes to the PEIR that would expand its coverage to include all project areas, and provide environmental information on the proposed project. Treatment types would include fuel breaks, WUI fuel reduction. Treatment activities may include prescribed burning, manual and mechanical thinning, and herbicide application. The purpose of these treatments will be to reduce fuel along strategic corridors to improve access for firefighting and evacuation, and potentially slow the spread of a wildfire.
