Document Description
The proposed project is a Marin Wildfire Prevention Authority Core Project developed in collaboration with the Central Marin Fire Department, the Ross Valley Fire Department, Kentfield Fire Protection District, and Marin County Fire Department. The goal of the proposed project is to create and maintain a continuous reduced-fuel and forest-health-restoration zone around the communities in Central Marin. The proposed project would involve conducting vegetation management activities to create an approximately 38-mile-long continuous shaded fuel break within a 1,379-acre area. Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) fuel reduction areas up to 497 acres adjacent to the fuel break may also be treated, of which 326 acres are on Marin County Open Space District lands in the following open space preserves: Terra Linda/Sleepy Hollow Divide, Loma Alta, White Hill, Cascade Canyon, Bald Hill, Baltimore Canyon, King Mountain, Blithedale Summit, Camino Alto, Alto Bowl, and Ring Mountain.
