Document Description
The California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention (CAL FIRE) would be providing funding to Fire Forward, Audubon Canyon Ranch, to offer workforce development and stewardship apprenticeship training opportunities in forestry, fire agency, fuels management, and prescribed fire applications. Upcoming training, including manual thinning and prescribed fire will occur on up to 527 acres of State Responsibility Area (SRA) lands on the Bouverie Wildflower Preserve located east of Glen Ellen in Sonoma County. The Sonoma Resource Conservation District has prepared a Project-Specific Analysis (PSA) and addendum for fuel break and ecological restoration treatments as a later activity covered by the California Vegetation Treatment Project (CalVTP) Program Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for the Bouverie Cal VTP# 2024-06 Project. The proposed treatment types (i.e., fuel break and ecological restoration) and treatment activities (i.e., prescribed burning, mechanical treatments, manual treatments, prescribed herbivory, and herbicide application) are consistent with those evaluated in the CalVTP Program EIR.
