Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has issued a Restoration Management Permit (RMP) pursuant to section 2081(a) of the Fish and Game Code to the Monterey Peninsula Regional Park District for Garland Ranch Regional Park Fuel Management Project (Project). The Project will restore 10.9 acres of riparian habitat currently dominated by blue gum eucalyptus (Eucalyptus globulus), a non-native species. Habitat quality is degraded due to the encroachment of eucalyptus and the accumulation of fuels. Project activities will enhance habitat quality by addressing the causes for degradation and revegetating the Project Area with native species. The Project will produce suitable foraging, nesting, and overwintering habitat for western bumble bee (Bombus occidentalis) and Crotch’s bumble bee (Bombus crotchii) (collectively, Covered Species). The Project is estimated to take one nest and five additional individuals of each of the Covered Species in the form of kill and capture, CDFW has determined and expects the Project will benefit, aid in the conservation of, and assist in the recovery of the Covered Species.
