Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (EPIMS-HUM-44352-R1C), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, to the project Applicant, the Mattole Restoration Council. This Agreement authorizes the Mattole Restoration Council to place approximately 400 whole trees in McGinnis Creek to increase habitat complexity and improve spawning and rearing habitat for salmonids. The trees will be transported by helicopter from previous vegetation removal efforts that occured in grassland restoration sites. Large wood features will consist of deflector jams, opposing jams, and underflow jams. Some cutting of riparian vegetation, consisting of red alder (Alnus rubra) may be required to allow suitable visibility for wood placement by helicopter.
