Document Description
Coastal Conservancy grant to East Bay Regional Park District to develop the Ten Hills Shaded Fuel Break an approximately 34-acre shaded fuel break along the southern border of Lake Chabot Regional Park, and purchase vegetation management equipment. The Ten Hills Shaded Fuel Break is part of the East Bay Hills Vegetation Treatment Project.
The East Bay Regional Park District's East Bay Hills Vegetation Treatment proposes to implement vegetation treatments on up to 2,280 acres of land within the Park District’s parks from Tilden Regional Park in the north to Lake Chabot Regional Park in the south. The treatment areas are located in the East Bay Hills in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. A Project-Specific Analysis and Addendum to the Program Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) for the California Vegetation Treatment Program (CalVTP) to evaluate if the proposed project is within the scope of the CalVTP PEIR, consider the expansion of treatments outside the treatable landscape analyzed in the CalVTP PEIR, and provide environmental information to the Park District in compliance with CEQA. Proposed treatment types are wildland-urban interface (WUI) fuel reduction, fuel break, and ecological restoration treatments. Proposed treatment activities are manual treatments, mechanical treatments, prescribed burning, herbicide application, and prescribed herbivory. The East Bay Hills Vegetation Treatment Project PSA/Addendum was prepared to evaluate the project as a later activity covered by the CalVTP PEIR.
