Document Description
CDFW has executed Streambed Alteration Agreement No. 1600-2018-0040-R3, pursuant to section 1602 of the Fish and Game Code to Mr. James Kluesener, Geysers Power Company, LLC. The project consists of three large water diversion on Big Sulphur Creek and 19 smaller diversions in the tributaries. The Big Sulphur Creek I facility is the most downstream diversion (River Mile [RM] 15) and it consists of three pumps that divert water using a combination of infiltration galleries and screened surface water diversions. Big Sulfur Creek II (RM 16+) consists of a series of infiltration galleries and a pump-house which delivers the water into a pool. The Geysers Riparian and Small Stream Diversions extraction program consists of 19 separate points of diversion in various tributaries to Big Sulphur Creek. The diversions are passive systems designed to ensure the bypass of min stream flows. Most of these facilities have been in operation for many years and have variable diversion rates ranging from 60-900 gallons per minute.
