Reasons for Exemption
CEQA exempts minor additions to schools that do not exceed 10 classrooms or an increase of more than 25% of the capacity of the school, whichever is less. The project is less than 10 classrooms and it would not increase the capacity by more than 25%. The original capacity of Sanger High School was 2,400 and the three classrooms would have the capacity for 81 students. This would be a 3.4% increase in capacity.
