Document Description
The existing apparatus bay at the Hermit Springs Forest Fire Station is not large enough to accomodate bay with an 8-foot by 20-foot addition using standard wood siding and framing material. An additional 20-foot by 20-foot structure will also be constructed behind the existing apparatus bay to accomodate the storage building pad, but no vegetation removal will be needed. Additionally, a light pole will be installed in the existing parking area. There is an existing underground electrical line that will be utilized. The project will take approx. 6 weeks to complete, with intermittent construction equipment such s a backhoe, compactor, concrete trucks, and related delivery trucks. The project is not adjacent to any watercourses. The topography is flat.

Reasons for Exemption
Minor Alteration to Lands. The modified building will be in the same location of existing facilities and will have substantially the same purpose. The new building and light pole will be minor in scope, and will not require any removal of vegetation. The project is not likely to have any impcts on biological resources. The project is not near any watercourses, and will not have any impacts on water quality. A CAL FIRE Archeologist was consulted, and the project is not anticipated to have any impacts on cultural or historic resources.
