Document Description
The Palos Verdes Reservoir has been out of service for approximately ten years. Prior to putting the reservoir back into service, the Department of Water Resources, Division of Safety of Dams (DSOD) is requiring Metropolitan to remove all vegetation and pine straw on the dam embankment slopes that could prevent dam surveillance activities while the reservoir is refilled. In addition, per the direction of DSOD, vegetation which inhibits the use of new dam survey monuments and dam monitoring devices must be removed. Approximately 85 trees, most of which are diseased, in poor health, or dead, and minor surface vegetation will be removed from the dam slopes to provide effective dam surveillance and accurate monitoring of the dam surface.
