In conjunction with the US Forest Service, Caltrans is proposing to pave three locations to provide off-highway parking for recreational trail access to the Bald Mountain, Obsidian Dome, and Mammoth Scenic Loop Trailheads. Two of the locations are existing dirt parking areas, and one will be a new parking location. The new location will require vegetation and tree removal, and all three locations will be graded for drainage and paved with asphalt. An existing USFS parking area will be decommissioned after completion of the new location.
