- Document Description
- The proposed system will receive energy from the existing PG&E utility line and store the energy in battery modules until it is distributed into the existing PG&E Henrietta Substation. Each phase will take approx three months to construct. The initial system (phase 1) will be able to deliver 10 megawatts of power for up to four continuous hours, resulting in a capacity of 40 megawatt-hours of stored energy available for grid services and system reliability. The system constructed in phase 1 will consist of forty shipping containers containing six energy storage sub models with AC/DC inverters each. Underground low voltage cables will be run to a low profile, pad-mounted switchgear and then to a pad-mounted step-up transformer. The transformer will be located at the northwest corner of the parcel, where underground 12 kV cables would be routed to banks 3 and 5 of PGE's Henrietta 12 kV substation, less than a mile to the north of the proposed project site. As additional storage capacity is needed, phase 2-6 will be constructed with the following infrastructure and storage capabilities: - phase 2: 112 DC Battery Modules, 15 transformers, 18 switchgears for a total storage capacity of 40 megawatts, or 160 megawatt hours. - phase 3 through 6, each: 152 DC Battery Modules, 20 transformers, 24 switchgears, for a total storage capacity of 60 megawatts, or 240 megawatt hours each (technology advancements are being considered, therefore the modules will increase its energy density over the years).
