Document Description
The project consists of renewal of a lease that has recently expired for the Higgins Corner Fire Station No. 21 CAL FIRE has leased the fire station from the Higgins Fire Protection District since 1978. The fire station sits on four acres and includes a four-bay apparatus buildings, barracks, mess hall, fueling station, hose wash rack area, water storage tank and paved parking. The station serves both the District and CAL FIRE under a cooperative fire protection contract. The surrounding area vegetation is characterized by a mix of open grassland and oak woodland, with dominant tree species being black oak, blue oak and ponderosa with patches of willow scrub riparian vegetation, freshwater marsh and valley oak.
