Document Description
Remove multiple hill climb trails, restore topography and revegetate the restored hillside, while retaining and repairing an existing rock hill climb obstacle course and associated escape route and the adjacent Gully Trail in a portion of the 4 X 4 Area within Prairie City State Vehicular Recreation Area to reduce erosion and to improve recreation opportunities for recreation area visitors. The project will: - Use soil from a sediment basin to fill and restore the eroded hill climb trails and grade portions of the hillside to restore topography; - Once topography is restored, use hand tools to cut shallow trenches across the slope to install 4,200 lf of straw wattles for erosion control while the area is being reseeded; - Retain and reconfigure the boulders within the existing obstacle climb to improve the route; - Armor the Gully Trail, also to be retained, with rock to prevent further erosion; - Use 3,200 ft of temporary fencing, 660 ft of permanent fencing and a 600-ft section of k-rail to secure the project area; - Repair an existing roadside drainage ditch and line with rock; and - Hydro-seed the area once this work is completed.
