Document Description
The California Tahoe Conservancy (Conservancy) will provide funding to the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California (Tribe) to implement the Project. The Tribe will implement the following restoration activities at Meeks Meadow: remove encroaching conifers using mechanical and hand thinning on approximately 300 acres; perform culturally guided prescribed burning; restore the meadow by planting culturally significant plant species, identifying and removing invasive species, and protecting culturally significant plants; and monitor the effectiveness of restoration activities.

The Project is located within the USDA Forest Service’s Meeks Management Area on the western shore of Lake Tahoe in El Dorado County. The Project is accessed from State Route 89 in Meeks Bay across from the Meeks Bay Resort. The Project area extends 1.3 miles upstream from SR 89 and one quarter-mile on either side of the Meeks Creek channel.
