Document Description
The District proposes to construct a fish hatchery on 1.25 acres of District-owned property adjacent to its District office and horizontally bore 3,600 ft of new water service line under the exposed lakebed of Big Bear Lake to service the hatchery. The hatchery will grow approx 157,000 lbs per year of fish for the District to stock Big Bear Lake to reduce the reliance on purchased fish from private and State hatcheries. All trout will be from sterilized triploid eggs to prevent breeding with native species down-stream and eliminate spawning of stocked fish. Operations will in an up to 100-ft by 150-ft insulated building located adjacent to the District's office. The facility will include a recirculated aquaculture system pump and treatment area, infiltration pump and treatment area, incubator room, locker room, employee areas.
