Document Description
The Agency proposed Project was to construct a new 1.7 million-gallon (MG) chlorine contact basin inserted it into the existing water treatment process without increasing capacity or changing the process control system. An existing roadway way was regraded for basin installation, and at the basin connects to an existing 54-inch filtered effluent steel line. The basin dimensions are 25.5' high x 152.8' long, and 95.3' wide. The Project will maximize hydraulic efficiency, optimize chlorine contact time, minimize formation for disinfection by-products, and allow for the transfer of 10 MG storage capacity from the existing clearwells, which will be converted to storage tanks. The increased contact time will maintain regulatory compliance and provide operational flexibility.
