- The city is being required by the county of Humboldt Environmental Health Dept to replace an existing septic system to meet current standards. The city owns the Samoa Air Field property (APN 401-141-004) which is leased, in-part, to the Humboldt Bay Social Club. The Social Club operates a small, four room boutique hotel, with an indoor bar and seating area. The Social Club does not currently offer prepared food b/c the existing septic system and leach field do not have a grease interceptor. Addition of the interceptor for food preparation facilities and replacement of the septic system is required under the Humboldt County Onsite Wastewater Treatment System Regulations and Technical Manual. The project includes installing a new 2,000 gallon grease interceptor, replacing the existing septic tank with a 10,000 gallon dual compartment septic tank, adding one Orenco Advantex AX-100 biological filtration unit for advanced treatment, adding a 2,000 gallon pump chamber, and constructing a new Wisconsin Mound dispersal field.
