Document Description
The project is limited to construction of approximately 2.25 miles of trail comprising 4 segments from Sutter's Landing Regional Park to the H Street Bridge, resulting in a nearly continuous trail alignment along the south side of the American River Parkway. The multi-use trail design will meet California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) Class 1 bikeway design criteria and would also be based on the State Water Code
Title 23 standards for recreation trails on levees and the American River Flood Control District (ARFCD) Recreational Trails Policy. The trail will generally consist of an 8-foot-wide paved path with a 2-foot-wide decomposed granite, compacted shoulder on the landside and a similar 6-foot-wide shoulder on the waterside. The total trail cross section along most of its length will be 16 feet wide; however, due to space
limitations in some locations, the waterside shoulder of the trail would be narrowed to 4 feet wide. The amendment to the Agreement includes (1) a reduction in the total impacts to riparian canopy, and (2) a revision to the proposed mitigation.
