Document Description
The former Vallejo manufactured gas plant (MGP) site is comprised of Operable Unit 1 (OU-1) and Operable Unit 2 (OU-2) Both properties are privately owned and currently leased by Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E).
The remediation of the OU-1 site involves soil excavation and off-site disposal of impacted soil at permitted disposal facilities and backfilling with clean imported backfill material to create a clean soil cap; transportation of Portland cement and sodium persulfate to the OU-1 site for soil stabilization; stabilization of deeper soil using in situ chemical oxidation coupled with in situ soil stabilization (ISCO/ISS); institutional controls that would include land use covenants restricting certain land uses, including restricting the use of on-site groundwater, cap-maintenance requirements, and a restriction on activities that could compromise the integrity of the cap; and groundwater monitoring which includes groundwater sampling of new groundwater monitoring wells; It is anticipated that the planned lSCO/ISS would address vapor intrusion issues.
