The proposed project consists of removing 32 wooden power poles of which 18 are in the Newland Marsh, a section of the Huntington Beach Wetlands, and relocating the power lines into a underground transmission corridor along Atlantic Avenue and Newland Street.

Reasons for Exemption
The project qualifies for a Class 1 exemption pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15301 (b) and (d) existing facilities because it will remove existing utility poles from the Newland Marsh, enhancing Marsh habitat, and will not result in significant environmental impacts. The proposed project would eliminate the current use of the existing power poles and relocated power lines into an underground transmission corridor out of the Marsh.
