The project is exempt under CEQA Section 15301 Class 1 - Existing Facilities, which consists of "existing highways and streets,... and similar facilities (this includes road grading for the purpose of public safety", The project area is located on an existing 840' length of roadway that is to be removed for the purposed of public safety. There is no expansion of use and the pre-disturbed area after the pavement is removed will be graded to reflect a more natural looking condition.
