Document Description
The proposed project is to remove 60 trees in three phases. The trees are located on a developed parcel in the Kensington area of unincorporated Contra Costa County.
In the absence of any proposed development, the Zoning Administrator does not support the removal of all proposed trees. However, in considering the tree health conditions and potential of tree failure, the trees that may be removed are based on the risk that they are posing to existing physical improvements and the safety of the general public. The trees that are approved for removal are the ones that have a moderate or higher chance of failing due to the fact that they are either dead, or infected with disease/fungus, and pose a high safett risk as follows: 1) near existing electrical power lines located along the northwest portion of the property; 2) proximate to the children's playground area; 3) proximate to the existing trail; 4) proximate to the existing parking lot, driveways, and residential homes. Therefore, 25 trees that meet the above factores are approved for removal. The remainder trees which do not have the potential to pose any risk to physical improvements and risk to the general public, even though the potential for failure, are not approved for removal.
