Document Description
Construct/install improvements within the Fort Ross Cemetary to maintain and interpret a cultural resource. -Install leveling sand overlay covering approximately 2,300ft with a sand depth of approximately 1". No ground disturbance will occur, as it will be located over an existing but deteriorated soil and exotic grass base area -Excavate a posthole 48" in depth x 18" in diameter and install an "Adoration" wood cross approximately 10'-6' tall, replacing an existing cross installed approximately 20 years ago currently located approximately 60' to the southwest. Up to four (4) boulders sized between 3'x3' and 4'x4' will be placed around the base of the cross and set 12" into the ground by excavation. One (1) of the boulders will be inscribed. Existing vegetation wil effectively screen the cross from view of the Coast Highway and from view of the oceans from the highway. As currently exists, the "Adoration" cross will extend about 7' above the existing coastal sage scrub vegetation. -Excavate eight postholes (8" diameter x 24" deep), to relocate and install up to four (4) new and existing interpretive panels. All interpretive panels will be approximately 3' x 4' each in size and at or below the height of the existing coastal sage scrub vegetation. The current location of the existing interpretive panels is approximately 81' to the southwest of the new locations -relocate wood bench from approximately 92' to the southwest to an area adjacent to vegetation along the Coast Highway. Installation will require the excavation of two holes 8" in diameter x 24" deep).
