Document Description
Original grant agreement is to fund demonstrations of forward osmosis concentrator system for juice and wastewater concentration in the food & beverage industry. Amendment to grant agreement is for a project site change to Jackson Family Wines as a demonstration site to better show the purpose of the PFO Concentrator by concentrating grape juice. The technology uses forward osmosis and reverse osmosis to produce juice concentrate and purified water streams for reuse. The project will determine energy and water savings and other benefits.

Reasons for Exemption
Cal. Code Regs., tit. 14, sect. 15301 provides that projects which consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, and which involve negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the lead agency's determination, are categorically exempt from CEQA.
Cal. Code Regs., tit. 14, sect. 15306 provides that projects which consists of basic data collection, research, and resource evaluation activities, which do not result in a serious or major disturbance to an environmental resource, are categorically exempt.
