The Briggs Hall 1t Floor NW Lab Renovation project would complete renovation of laboratory space within Briggs Hall located on the northwest side of the first floor. The renovated lab area would be approximately 14,000 SF and would reconfigure existing laboratory space. The renovated area would result in two main labs, office and support spaces updating finishes and fixtures to current campus standards. No exterior work or expansion of the building footprint is proposed.
This project qualifies as categorically exempt under Exemption Class 1 of the Guidelines for the implementation to CEQA. This exemption applies to the operation, repair, permitting, leasing, maintenance or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities or mechanical equipment, involving negligible or no expansion of an existing use. In addition, none of the exceptions for application of a categorical exemption apply to this project.
