Reasons for Exemption
The solar facility, the construction and installation of a canopy structure mounted PV solar system at an existing school site provide electricity to the District. The sola arrays mounted to canopy structures, inverters, AC combiner, and utility line trenching, are minor structures appurtenant to the existing institutional uses(school buildings). The project will not increase the capacity of the school sites by 25% of 10 classrooms. There are no sensitive resources in the project area and the battery storage facilities will serve the existing facilities. Therefore, they are classified as exempts from the provisions of CEQA under Section 15301 - Section 1503 - Class 3, New Construction of Small Structures; Section 15311- Class 11, Accessory Structures; Section 15314 - Class 14 Minor additions to Schools. None of the exceptions to these categorical exemption apply.
