Document Description
The proposed project would remove and replace one existing air handler unit (AHU-2) at the UC San Diego Biomedical Sciences building. The existing AHU is nearing the end of its useful life. The AHU is located in an existing mechanical space (Room B100) and the new system would be integrated into the existing building energy management control system. The new AHU would be of similar dimensions, and would contain chilled water, heated hot water and ductwork connections similar to the current unit. Scope of work would also include necessary plumbing and electrical work. The new AHU would include Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's) to provide energy cost savings. Scope of work includes new air duct smoke detector devices, which would be connected to the existing buildings fire alarm system. A temporary AHU would be installed for areas affected during construction.
