Document Description
The port proposes to repair the perimeter dike in the south Field at Oakland International Airport to prevent damage from a storm event or wave action. Recent inspections showed that there is insufficient riprap on the outboard side at Station 38+00 to 41+00. Inspections revealed no visible signs of damage to the perimeter dike, however additional riprap is required to prevent damage from occurring. The scope of work involves placing up to 160 CY of quarry rock at the outboard toe-side of the perimeter dike at Station 38+00 to 41+00.

Reasons for Exemption
The project involves placing rip rap to an existing structure where previous rip rap has sloughed off. Pursuant to CEQA Guidelines section 15300, the Secretary Resources has found that section 15301, class 1, which consists of the operation, repair, maintenance, permitting, leasing, licensing, or minor alteration of existing public or private structures, facilities, mechanical equipment, or topographical features, involving negligible or no expansion of use beyond that existing at the time of the determination does not have a significant effect on the environment and are therefore exempt from the requirement for the preparation of environmental documents.
