Document Description
The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) approved the Remedial Action Plan (RAP) Amendment for the Johns Manville Project Site. The RAP Amendment addressed the remediation of the Bermed Property within the Plant Parcel of the Johns Manville site. The purpose of this work is to remove impacted soil that is currently capped under the berm onsite. The proposed remediation includes the removal and remediation of the berm on the eastern portion of the Site. The berm currently contains asbestos and petroleum hydrocarbon material covered with two feet of clean soil. This berm was constructed in 2006 to implement the original RAP. As part of the RAP Amendment, approximately 64,600 cubic yards of impacted soil will be excavated from the berm and disposed of off-site. The RAP Amendment includes procedures for air monitoring and dust control measures to protect workers and offsite receptors.
