Document Description
The proposed project will excavate recent sediment accumulations and restore the Resource Recovery Facility's two man-made ponds to original design grades. Equipment is expected to be limited to a long reach excavator and haul trucks to remove sediment and vegetation. Based on previous, similar pond maintenance efforts, heavy equipment will operate in sensitive habitats for no more than a max of 5 days. The proposed project consists of removal of approx 1,350 cy of sediment buildup and associated wetland vegetation at the freshwater bypass system's two man-made ponds, at the East and West Canyons upstream of the landfill. Two sediment retention habitat enhancement catchments will be added to the upper West Pond active sediment deposition area.
