Document Description
Lift Station #6 force main was constructed by South Coast Water District in the mid-1980s to convey sanitary sewage from the city of Dana Point to the Coastal Treatment Plant in Laguna Beach. Since it was built in the mid-1980s, the 14-in force main has deteriorated at several locations due to the effect of Hydrogen sulfide gas which naturally forms in sewage. The district proposes to replace and relocate a section of the force main with a more reliable pipe material that is not susceptible to damage or corrosion by hydrogen sulfide gas or corrosive soil. The replacement force main will improve reliability and integrity, avoid impacts to the environment due to potential spills, and extend the service life of the pipe.
