Document Description
The DWP proposes to construct 12.29 mi of new pipeline to replace pipeline that is no longer efficient or effective, due to age or b/c it is undersized; installation of new pipeline to create loops and improve fire flow and water quality. Of the 12.29 miles of pipeline that will be installed, approx 2.41 mi of pipeline installed will be new alignments that will improve flow within DWP's service area. The proposed 2.41 mi of new pipeline will create loops in the system to provide better fire flow, increase system efficiency, and prevent stagnation of water at dead ends within DWP's potable water system, which will not increase demand of or production of potable water over the long term. The pipeline will be installed at 74 different locations within existing roadways, and will vary in size. The existing pipeline will not be removed, it will remain in place once the new pipeline is installed. Construction is anticipated to begin in late Spring 2019, and continue over a period of approximately four dry seasons (April to October)
