- Document Description
- The project entails installing and operating a floating trash removal system (water wheel) secured to pilings within San Diego Creek. Landside improvements would include construction of an access road and disposal bin loading/unloading system. The Water Wheel would generate a portion of its own power from the flowing current of San Diego Creek which would be used to propel a conveyor belt to divert floating trash and place it into a disposal bin prior to the trash entering Newport Bay. The Water Wheel would be operated during dry-weather and before, during and after most storm events and is designed for an expected useful life of 20 years. The project would encompass approximately 0.67 acres.
