- The Modoc National Forest is proposing to decommission approx. 1.1 miles of system roads and 6 miles of non-system roads within the Lassen Creek project area. The system roads that are going to be decommissioned are the 46T63B and 45T02BC roads. Road decommissioning will include both surface clarification or subsoiling with the road prism left intact, and full road decommissioning through rehabilitation, and recontouring the road prism back to its natural slope. Revegetation will also occur. To accomplish the work seasonal road crew will use specialized equipment such as a dozer, excavator, and compactor. A physical barrier or disguise will be placed at the entrance to decommissioned roads to prevent future OHV access. These roads will be monitored afterwards by resource specialists.
