Document Description
SCWD owns and operates a force main connecting Lift Station #2 with the South Orange County Wastewater Authority Coastal Treatment Plant. The force main is approx 5,600 lf of 20-in ductile iron pipe that was constructed in 1992. The LS-2 force main has shown signs of deterioration and detailed analysis indicated significant metal loss and the possibility of failure of the force main. As a result, the district evaluated several options for repair or replacement of the force main. After conducting a value engineering analysis the district concluded that "sliplining" the existing pipe provided the best option for repairing the force main with the least potential for environmental impacts during construction.
