Document Description
Caltrans proposes to replace the California Aqueduct Bridge (Bridge No. 50-0323 at PM 17.44) on SR 166 in Kern County with a new bridge. The bridge sits 5 miles west of I-5. The new bridge would be a reinforced steel and concrete box girder bridge, approx 434 ft long and 43 ft wide, with a vertical height of 21 ft. The new bridge would be on the same alignment as the existing bridge. During construction, a detour off SR 166 would divert traffic along Old River Rd to Copus Rd. Approx 6 acres of new ROW would be acquired from adjacent farmland for the project. The proposed work may also have an effect on a historic property, the California Aqueduct. A Finding of no adverse effect has been submitted to the state historic preservation officer.
