Document Description
DTSC has reissued a Hazardous Waste Facility Permit pursuant to CA Health and Safety Code section 25200 which authorizes the Naval Base San Diego to continue operating the existing hazardous waste container collection, consolidation, storage and transfer activities at Building 3458 including the attached Loading/Unloading area, or facility. Government organizations in the Southern California Region generate the hazardous waste. The max storage capacity of the facility at any one time is 53,460 gallons total which is further limited to 966 55-gallon containers equivalent to 53,130 gallons and 10 size 200 standard high-pressure cylinders or volume equivalent to 330 gallons of compressed gas in gas cylinders in the gas cylinder cage in the loading/unloading area.

Reasons for Exemption
The project will not result in a change in any of the physical conditions (land, air, water, minerals, flora, fauna, ambient noise, and objects of historic or aesthetic significance) within the area affected by the project. Therefore, DTSC finds with certainty that there is not a possibility the activities in question will result in a significant environmental effect. The permit renewal for HWF will not alter the HW management activities from the current permitted activities. The procedures and capacities will remain equivalent to the current permit. No potential significant impacts will result from the continued operation of this unit.
