Document Description
Conduct geotechnical exploration (2 boreholes) to determine geotechnical properties near the pipeline alignment on the city's wastewater treatment plant in the vicinity of the Salinas River banks. Geotechnical data will be obtained through a field exploration program consisting of drilling at two locations adjacent to the Salinas River in the vicinity of the city's WWTP. A two-day effort is anticipated to provide the two borings adjacent to the Salinas River. Mud rotary drilling will be used to advance two of the borings to a depth of approx 90-ft. During drilling of these borings, mud type, flow characteristics, and any loss in circulation will be noted to develop qualitative assessment of mud-rotary conditions. Borings will be backfilled with bentonite cement grout, cement slurry and/or approved native fill in accordance with monitoring well permits issued by the county of San Luis Obispo Environmental Health Dept. Excess spoils and drill fluid from the drilling will be collected, hauled offsite, and properly disposed. No drilling mud or cuttings will be discharged in the project area.
