Document Description
The purpose of the project is to replace an existing railroad bridge, located along Mainline 2 at Milepost 2 at Milepost 671.07 of the UPRR Yuman Subdivision, which spans a desert dry wash tributary to the Salton Sea. The existing bridge, built in 1932, is at the end of its useful life and must be replaced to address aging timber piles/supports and abutments, as well as to comply with current Federal Railroad Adminstration (FRA) regulations and to meet UPRR safety and design Standards. The existing bridge and rail line support Amtrak passenger service through Imperial County. The replacement bridge will maintain and improve both freight and passenger rail service.
