Document Description
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has executed a Restoration and Enhancement Act Project (No. 1652-2018-019-001-R2) pursuant to section 1652 of the Fish and Game Code to Trout Unlimited.
The project will utilize existing, unconsolidated rocks to construct five cross vanes (two of which are already naturally forming) to enhance the power an efficacy of these features, resulting in deeper, more xygenated habitats in the Truckee River that currently lack habitat complexity. The project does not add any fill to the river and instead relocates unconsolidated existing rocks to construct the five cross vanes. Access to the stream bank to ocnstruct all cross vanes will be achieved from an existing route located on the property, creating five short spur routes, which are disturned from past use. After construction, the routes will be resloped, revegetated and will be blocked off with boulders to discourage future recreational use. In addition, non-native musk thistle will be removed fromt he area.
