Document Description
The Bay Air Quality Management District has issued an authority to construct for the McLaren Backup Generating Facility. The MBGF will provide emergency backup power for the McLaren Data Center. When fully built out, the MDC will consist of three four-story, 175,000-180,000 sq. ft. data center buildings and a paved parking lot on a 9-acre site. The MBGF will consist of 15-16 diesel fired backup generators for each data center building to provide emergency backup power for the buildings servers in the event of a power outage. There will also be one additional generator for each building to provide emergency power for fire suppression and other life safety systems. The project also includes switchgear and distribution cabling to connect the 3 generation yards to their respective buildings and 14,250-sq. ft Silicon Valley Power substation along Mathew Street.
