Document Description
The Department of Fish and Wildlife is issuing a permit to the National marine Fisheries Service - Southwesr Fisheries Science Center (SWFSC) pursauant to Fish and Game Code section 2081(a) research in California State waters. The Section 2081(a) permits authorizes SWFSC to incidentally take Longfin Smelt, Coho Salmon, and Chinook salmon during the course of its research subject to terms and conditions set forth in the permit. The purpose of this research has three components, study juvenile salmonids in their ocean habitat, assess year class strength of various rockfish and other young of the year groundfish species, and to obtain biological specimens of groundfish, flatfish, or roundfish for various biologival studies. Fish collection will be conducted aboard NOAA research vessels or contracted fishing vessels using trawl and hook and line gear.
