Document Description
This site preparation method uses goats to browse on newly sprouted ceanothus shoots during the summer and fall, following mastification which occurred the previous fall and winter. If appropriate, these locations may also be burned to maximize the site for planting, survival, and long term management . The goats will browse in locations previously surveyed for natural and cultural resources prior to any site preparation activities. Goats will be penned, in trailers, or under the direct control of the herder contractor and his employees will be with the goats and dogs sun up to sun down every day the goats are on State Park property and either trailer camp at the edge of the polygon or camp close enough to respond quickly to any need.
